Rebecca for Monmouth
Introduction
I am Rebecca Salinas-Oliveros. I am running for Monmouth City Council. I am new to city government, yet believe I can bring a fresh and diverse perspective to our City Council. I believe Black Lives Matter and that unity regardless of differences is vital to creating a community in which all residents feel accepted and valued. We should not be afraid to say what we believe and act on those beliefs. My family, immediate and extended, includes police officers and law enforcement professionals. We have built relationships with many police families in town. My family also includes active duty military members as well as veterans of various military branches. I believe that everyone can contribute to a more equitable and just society, and that we need people from all backgrounds to become a better city. I believe in social justice and will stand with you in the pursuit of happiness, freedom and fairness.
I firmly believe that elected officials should listen to all sides of an issue before making a decision. I can be reached at friendsofrebeccaso@gmail.com. You are welcome to reach out, ask questions and share information with me. I think we can grow, learn and create new opportunities for all of our citizens. There is much work to be done to make Monmouth an even better place to live, work and raise a family. I am determined to do my best in serving our community by listening to your concerns, acting with integrity, and working collaboratively toward positive change.
“We are one people, one family, the human family, and what affects one of us affects us all.” John R. Lewis
